As 14 participants journey this summer to Lantern Hill, you can participate in the work too!  Lantern Hill has asked us to partner in a new project in their community:

We would like to begin the construction on a computer learning center located at our Baja 89 community outreach center. This is located in the largest community of working poor in Northern Baja California, Mexico. Giving these children the opportunity to learn new skills, use the internet to provide learning initiatives, and develop programs designed to enhance their creativity is something this community has never seen. Besides raising the $5,000 necessary for the construction we are also asking our groups to prayerfully consider bringing 2 new "netbooks" (usually under $300) or 2 slightly used but not outdated laptop computers for use in the center.

When: August 3rd-10th, 2010, including travel time

Who: Youth of the Delaware-Maryland Synod, who currently in high school. There is a limit of 4 youth per church with the option of bringing an adult, and beyond that the spots are limited to 45. So, first come, first serve (literally)!

Cost: Approximately $750. Churches are responsible for fundraising, but the Service & Outreach Team of the Lutheran Youth Organization will provide many ideas for how to fundraise! We will also work with congregations and individuals for whom this is too much of a burden. Please let us know, so we can work with you on this as soon as possible! Non-refundable deposit of $200 and release form due by February 15th. First come, first serve.
